| The
Pub
A freehouse
with a light and airy bar area serving a selection of lagers, traditional
cask beers including rotating guest ales. Plus a selection of wines,
spirits and soft drinks.
Comfortable
sofas and high-backed chairs provide ample seating, with a pool
table and wide-screen tv area. A beautifully illustrated mural depicting
the story of the famous Haxey Hood adorns one wall. Prints of the
mural (by the artist Pat
Roberts) are available for purchase.
The
loco was founded by its one-time chip shop owner, who purchased
the locomotive (currently positioned in the bar area) from the local
Bentley colliery, intending to use it as a garden barbeque. When
he decided to convert the chip shop into a pub, he thought it would
be a good idea to make a feature of the loco and theme the entire
pub around it. And so it has remained for the last 20 years.
